Principal Moore, M.Ed
Keith Moore is a native Austinite who grew up on the East side of Austin. A product of the Austin Independent School District, he attended Maplewood Elementary School, Kealing Magnet School, and A.N. McCallum High School.
He led youth and teens, as a dance instructor and also step squad leader, for many years while working and volunteering in east Austin recreation centers. He later founded a youth/ teen fraternal organization to support middle and high school scholars in academics and to encourage social emotionally sound relationships among male youth of color. Moore furthered the cause by expanding to include all youth of color. In fact, the 57th DeWitty/ Overton Freedom Fund awarded a former member of the group for Outstanding Community Service, as a clinical specialist in neuro and spine surgery.
Mr. Moore is a proud graduate of Huston-Tillotson University. While studying on the historically Black campus, he joined the family of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated in the single-letter, Theta chapter. He served as the chapter president for 2 years while completing his studies at the university, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in English.
After having taught on high needs, Title I campuses for 9 years, Moore went on to complete graduate school, earning a Masters of Education, as a member of the 2009 cohort of the Principalship Program at the University of Texas at Austin.
Mr. Moore worked as an assistant principal at an elementary school for 3 years. Next, he served in the Office of School Leadership as an administrative supervisor for 24 Austin elementary and middle schools.
Keith Moore has served the very community in which he grew up, as the principal of Lee Lewis Campbell Elementary Media and Performing Arts Institute, since 2014. There, through a lens of equity, Principal Moore works daily to collaboratively create and ensure access for all scholars and families in his community, through implementation of arts-integrated instructional practices and nurturing a shared vision.
He was selected as Austin ISD’s first Black male “Principal of the Year” in 2023; he also received an NAACP award for Excellence in Education in 2024.
